MedInspector Workshop 2018
HERCA organised a workshop on how to inspect justification and optimisation in nuclear medicine on 6-8 Nov. 2018 in Stockholm, Sweden.
In a framework of a specific working package dedicated to inspection in the medical field, HERCA is continuing its work for sharing practical procedures, methods and experiences among inspectors from radiation competent authorities members of HERCA.
HERCA already organised a first workshop in 2015 which was focused on how to inspect justification and optimization in diagnostic radiology. As a follow-up of this workshop, HERCA organised an European Inspection Campaign to Assess Patient Radiation Protection in Diagnostic Radiology. Results of this initiative were presented at the International Conference on Radiation Protection in Medicine: Achieving Change in Practice, 11-15 December 2017, Vienna, hosted by the International Atomic Energy Agency https://www.iaea.org/resources/rpop/resources/bonn-call-for-action-platform.
This second workshop, was addressed to experienced inspectors from radiation competent authorities members of HERCA and covered nuclear medicine both in diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Medical, occupational and public exposure in nuclear medicine were also addressed.
