HERCA Pre-workshop on National Radon Action Plans

On 21–23 September 2021, the 2nd HERCA Workshop on National Radon Action Plans (NRAPs) will be held in Bucharest (Romania) bringing together representatives of radon competent authorities from 32 European countries. During this Workshop, we will take a critical look at the progress made in implementing NRAPs across Europe and analyse some of the main outstanding questions with regard to NRAP effectiveness, to the application of the graded approach at the workplace and to the role of stakeholders.

On that purpose an online pre-Workshop event was organised on 23 March 2021 10:30 CET – 13:15 CET. This event consisted of invited presentations and a panel discussion with representatives of international organisations and HERCA members on the key topics that will be further explored during the Workshop. You’ll find the programme in the information section on the right as well as the concluding remarks and survey results.

On behalf of the HERCA Working Group on Natural Radiation Sources (WG NAT), representatives from ISS (Italian National Institute of Health) and AGES (Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety) moderated the panel of experts, which included: the WHO, the European Commission, the IAEA and representatives from the authorities of Norway (DSA), Czech Republic (SUJB) and Ireland (EPA).

The pre-Workshop event was kindly hosted by the Italian National Institute of Health.

Jelena Popic (WG NAT Co-Chair) and Marta García-Talavera (WG NAT Chair)
